A feasibility study for University of East Anglia underpinned by student feedback

University of East Anglia commissioned Nomad to produce a feasibility study concerned with the development of their stunning library building. The building, originally designed by Denys Lasdun in 1968 - 1974 is build over 6 floors. The University are keen to update the building to draw it in line with current learning and teaching trends. Nomad undertook a five month research and participatory design project which culminated in a fully costed proposal that that the University could use to seek funding for the project. Our design proposed the creation of a new student services floor, solutions for 24 hour service and access to books, a number of learning space types and a post-graduate research centre. The images above show the 'reading rooms', these were created on each floor to give students choices of types of learning spaces that they wished to work in.
